New Ground in a Fast-Growing Suburb
Hydroseeding in Frisco follows the bulldozers. The city was the fastest-growing in the United States from 2000 to 2009 and again in 2017, after suburban development from Plano spilled north in the late 1990s. A lot of that growth is still settling in: new homes with bare backyards, retention areas waiting on cover, and builder phases that need stable ground before the next permit.
High ground and low ground
Frisco owes its location to drainage. When the railroad came through in 1902, the older settlement of Lebanon sat up on Preston Ridge, too high for a watering stop, so the stop went about four miles west onto lower ground. That same rise and fall still matters on a lot. Yards near the ridge shed water quickly and can dry out; low lots collect it. We fine grade to move water off the slab and toward the street or swale, then pick a mulch rate that suits how fast that lot drains.
Builder and HOA work
For builders, a hydroseeding company that also handles silt fence, inlet protection and final topsoil saves a trade. We stage silt fence along the low edge of a lot, protect curb inlets during grading and spray seed with hydromulch once the grade is signed off. Common-area slopes around ponds get erosion control blankets where mowing crews will need a firm bank.
Shade and trees
Frisco has been a Tree City USA since 2003, and many newer streets are planted with young trees that will shade parts of the yard in a few years. Where shade is coming, we talk about a seed mix that can handle it now so the lawn does not thin later.
Weather
The city averages about 39 inches of precipitation a year and July highs near 96 degrees. Seeding in spring and early summer, with irrigation set before we spray, gives warm-season grass its best start.

- Preston Ridge. The railroad watering stop was placed about four miles west of Lebanon because Preston Ridge was too high in elevation.
- Rainfall. Frisco gets about 39 inches of precipitation a year, with July highs around 96 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Tree City USA. The National Arbor Day Foundation has named Frisco a Tree City USA every year since 2003.

Frisco Questions
My Frisco builder left a bare backyard. Can you seed just that?
Yes. We check the grade first, add topsoil where the builder left subsoil, then hydroseed the area and give watering instructions.
Do you install silt fence for Frisco builders?
Yes. We set silt fence on the downhill side of lots, protect inlets and come back for seeding once grading is done.
My yard stays wet after rain. Will seed still grow?
Seed struggles in standing water. We usually regrade low spots or shape a shallow swale before seeding so the yard drains.
Should I plan for shade from my new street trees?
If trees will shade part of the yard soon, a more shade-tolerant mix there can save you from overseeding later.
